I am convinced that if my Dad was still alive he would be livid about everything that's been going on. Name the event, the problem, the news story and I can envision his response. "The liberals in the press this and that" or " I saw this coming for twenty years". You know he embraced the Internet before it became so viral. I can picture him with his cellie in hand tweeting away and complaining that 140 characters aren't enough!
Picture this my grandmother, my Dads mother use to ride a horse helping to deliver milk. My Dad worked on projects that involved high tech and helped put a man on the moon. So in the course of 60 years we went from horses to cars, TV and video and in another 50 years we went to all being connected to the point that we all know instantaneously what happens in any part of the world. Blows my mind, so what will happen in the next 50 or so? My grandkids will see it and probably not think anything about it! I have to tell them about the horse, the moon and the amazing people who came before who made the life we take for granted possible.
Random thoughts of a consulting arborist on trees, people and places. Spending a little to much time driving around talking to myself.

Awake and alive
A couple of months back I was at work on a Monday morning and suddenly my life changed in a flash. Rushed to the hospital I became the center of attention for what looked to me dozens of people. They all had the look of real concern in their faces. I was taken back, oh I'm ok I thought as I was wheeled thru the hallways into an elevator and into a weird science lab.
My next thoughts were "holy shit" this could be "it"! A doctor, I mean a real doctor who knew what he was doing stepped forward and told me he found the problem! I have a problem? News to me, I thought that pain I was feeling was just going to go away, I did take an aspirin. They finished and wheeled me into a big room where my relieved family came in and showered me with mixed emotions. I was admonished for scaring them and to reform my wayward ways.
Whisked off to the "ICU", I was again attended to my a myriad of nurses, technician and doctors. And in a few days I was back home, changed for ever. Good, bad or otherwise, I am alive!
Moral of the story, always carry an aspirin.
