A Little Breezy Out There

Seems like yesterday while I was busy working in the garage, the wind picked up and a few trees were damaged. The national Christmas tree snapped at the base. One quick look at a picture online shows a very thin wall of good wood holding the tree together. Snapped and exposed no more tree. I then looked at an email from my bro, his dead tree snapped a big branch. Should have removed the tree last spring. Didn't tell me till I was there for a BBQ during the summer. So the morale of the story, trees have a finite lfe span, have your trees inspected periodically. Suspect areas may need further testing, internal decay may be masked. Look for signs, bulge in the trunk, flat or sunken spots. Sounding and drilling test may reveal what may be hidden. So before you get surprised by a tree on the car or house, have an arborist look at that tree!
